Hardest and best work I’ve done yet on a mission trip. I get to imagine a Community Baseball Field that attracts community children and adults, who will be positively influenced by Junior and the church baseball teams. For now, it looks like an impossibly big field that we hand weed and shovel a mixture of sand and compost. God orchestrated the gift of a grass crop expert on our team who is going to plant a grass that thrives in this climate. A highlight – shoveling wet sand/dirt in the middle of the heaviest rain storm I’ve ever seen, while relieved for a reprieve from heat.
Working in the kitchen to prep food for the pastor’s conference was not something I thought I’d enjoy. But finally we endeared ourselves enough to the local cooks/helpers to be taught by them how to prep and cook. These meals are SO lovingly prepared. The best food, including meat, being served. It was humbling to know how hard it is, and what a blessing it must be to those village pastors who came by boat or walked for hours just to learn.
Later today, I get to be at the conference, and I know God will show me how amazingly BIG He is….influencing villagers, orphans, and me alike.
