from Kathy

Five girls plus pillowcases equaled a fun afternoon making "pillowcase" dresses.  The great part is that we are going back tomorrow and the girls who made the dresses yesterday are going to help teach other girls how to make them.  It was so much fun to watch the girls sew (some on very old Singer sewing machines) and figure out how to not only make the dresses, but trim them in ways that are very pretty.  It was great talking with the gal who is teaching them to sew - however my high school Spanish is very rusty!

Not only have I had the opportunity to sew, but to pull weeds in the rain and mud, sort beans, make pastries for the pastor's conference (the local boys helping made about 5 for each of my one - and their's looked much nicer!), going to part of the pastor's conference (wonderful, wonderful!), and get to know some wonderful people here and on the team!

  1. Whether making pillowcase dresses or pastries...there is a process at work that's reproducible. I have loved reading and seeing how discipleship at work in Nicaragua. So glad you're part of the team.
